Contemporary Botanic | 6 weeks

​For: Beginners, intermediate and advanced students.

In this six week class you will learn how to paint floral subjects in a contemporary way. This is not Botanic illustration but a more free approach to painting flowers with watercolour. From illustrative to abstract, using wet in wet and shading tecniques. Areas of focus will include materials, drawing, shading, watercolour painting and brush techniques, along with helping to develop and hone your observational skills. This class is suitable for beginners and advanced.

Materials the students need to bring

Paints: (Windsor & Newton) Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Permanent Rose, Cerulean Blue, Cobalt, Paynes Grey, Hookers Green and Sepia.

Brushes: 

  • No: 4, 6, 12 watercolour brush with fine point. If you can afford, the sable brushes are the best, otherwise synthetic brushes are okay to start with. (Not hog hair brushes)

Paper: A4 - A3 sheets of 300gsm medium textured watercolour paper. Arches preferred. Sketch pad max A3 size.

Pencils: 2H, HB & 2B graphite pencils. Pencils available in the studio as well.

Palette: Watercolour palette with individual wells for paint and 2 water jars. (water jars, paper towel, masking tape and boards are available in the studio as well)

Starter palettes are available as well which allows you to work from home

Terms & Conditions Due to the nature of running the classes we can not give refunds or transfer your class to next term, unless classes are cancelled. Please make sure you have selected the correct date before booking and if for some reason you can not make the class/workshop you can send a friend in stead!

ORIGINAL ARTWORK DELIVERY

Art couriers are used for all framed originals. Cost to clients are quoted at cost price & invoiced separately to the art purchase and must be completed prior to delivery. Artwork can also be collected from our studio.  We require the purchaser or their nominated adult to accept the artwork upon its arrival.

DELIVERY ESTIMATES

Larger limited edition prints (A2-A1-A0) ship in approximately 7-10 working days.
Original Art ship in approximately 7 working days.
Snowpuppe can take approx. 3 weeks to ship & this depends on availability. Framed prints can take approx. 3 weeks to ship.
